Experimenting with portraiture as a catalyst for dialogue, artist Ben Betsalel and photojournalist Gena Steffens traveled to Natagaima, South Tolima, Santa Marta, and Taganga to make art with and learn about the experiences of Colombian nationals. Through the lived experiences of members from indiginous communities, ancestrial fisherman villages, and people who have tried to illegally work in nearby countries, the project faces the human impact of armed conflict and violence, climate change, and recent shifts in ecology and economy.
